MORE INFORMATION Athenaeum's School of the Arts Course #66: From Drawing To Painting Instructor: Kris Finch (New Instructor!) Tuesdays, 2:30–6:30 PM Jan. 29–Mar. 5 (6 weeks) Limited to 12 students San Diego/Park Blvd Studio $180 member/200 nonmember This class will work from photos to create a finished painting in 6 weeks. We will start drawing onto canvas with pencil using patience and accuracy. During the drawing portion we will use common techniques such as measuring, squinting, plum-lines, and more. Once a solid foundation has been built we will begin to apply oil paint in a time efficient manner. While painting we will go over proper paint application, time management, edges, and many other procedures to create a great piece of art. Materials: Canvas or Canvas board; Yellow Ochre, Vermilion Hue, Cad Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Ultra Marine; Black, White; Brushes; Turpenoid; Metal or Glass Jar; Pallet or Pallet paper; Paper towels or rag; 8x10 photo; mechanical pencil; rubber eraser. ********************************************************** IMPORTANT: The Athenaeum verifies all transactions for active library membership status and reserves the right to charge the difference in member and nonmember ticket price. The library is open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. The library is closed on Sunday and Monday. ENROLLMENT: Art classes are limited to approximately 18-20 students for adult classes and 12-15 students for children’s classes. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. CLASS POLICY: Visitors are not allowed in the classroom. If you wish to sit in on a class, you must enroll. SCHOOL REFUND POLICY: No exceptions made. A full refund will be given only if a class, workshop or tour is cancelled, filled prior to the receipt of your registration, or if the teacher does not accept you as a student. A credit for another class in the next Athenaeum’s School of the Arts season will be extended to students who are unable to attend and have notified the Athenaeum’s School of the Arts staff at least one week prior to the beginning of the class. CANCELLATIONS: The Athenaeum reserves the right to cancel classes and workshops prior to or at the beginning of the first class meeting. A full refund will be given automatically or tuition may be applied towards another course during the current session depending on availability.
